CLEARING OUT THE HOUSE
Mary Mackey

I am clearing out
I am clearing out the house
I am clearing out the house of my dead parents
At least that is what I set out to do
Each time

But the house has grown strange, the things within it have become other, possessed of a charge, an autonomy, independent of an ‘owner’, no longer co-habiting with a human gaze or touch.

This work documents and records these apparently ordinary things in an attempt to manifest their otherness, their significance. They are withdrawing their present-ness to and from the lives that permeated that house, and it is this alternative being, which the camera sees and evidences, that this project attempts to demonstrate.

ESCAPE SHIFT
Noelle Noonan

Noelle Noonan is one half of collaborative print project, Escape Shift. Escape Shift is a focused, at times poetic, meditation on the relationship between printmaking and the act of digital communication. This collaborative work addresses, without making overarching statements, the relationship between old and new print media in relation to a landscape considered both physical and virtual.
